CELPIP Reading practice test — Form A

Form A, sat in this browser. Four parts, 38 questions, a clock on each part and no way back once a part is closed — the exam’s rules, kept. Your score and the full answer key come up the moment you finish.

This test needs JavaScript. The whole thing runs in your browser — the questions, the clock and the marking — so with scripting off there is nothing to run. The format notes below work without it, and so do the conversion tables.

Before you start

Four parts, 38 questions, 43 minutes. The clock is per part: 11, 9, 10 and 13 minutes. It starts when the part opens.
Inside a part, change anything. Between parts, nothing. Once you move on the part is closed, which is the official rule.
When a part’s time runs out it closes and your answers are kept.
Nothing is sent anywhere. The form, the key and the marking all run in this browser. Your progress is remembered on this device only, at the start of each part, and clearing your browser data clears it.

Free, and nothing is asked of you: no card, no account, no email address, and no session counter. Sitting this form does not spend any of the app’s free scored sessions.

Read this before you trust the number

This is practice material we wrote, not a real CELPIP form. Every passage, recording, question, option and key here is original work written for this simulator. What is taken from the official exam is the shape: the part names, the question counts, the clocks and the navigation rules. Nothing is transcribed from a real form.
The level is an estimate, and always a band. The official raw-score conversion is not published. We use the cut-offs read out of Paragon’s own free sample test, then widen by one level in the direction your score leans inside its band — the same rule the app uses. The tables and the reasoning are here.
The real exam is equated and difficulty-weighted. Paragon’s Study Pack says the level comes from the number of points and the difficulty of the questions, equated across forms. The same raw total can land a level apart on two different forms, so no fixed table can be exact.
We do not issue official scores. Only Paragon Testing Enterprises can tell you your CELPIP level.
A single part is never converted. These tables convert a full 38-question section. There is no published conversion for one part on its own, and inventing one would be the exact dishonesty this page exists to avoid.

The other half of the exam

Reading and Listening can be marked against a key. Speaking and Writing cannot — somebody has to read what you produced. For those, the app scores your own answer and returns a report with a level band, four dimensions and your own sentences marked where they go wrong.
