Free CELPIP practice test: one real Writing task, actually scored
Most free CELPIP pages give you a sample answer to read. This one gives you a report on your answer. Write the email below and a scored report comes back in about 5 seconds — a CLB band, four dimensions, and your own sentences marked where they go wrong.
What happens
- Read the task and write your email in the box — about 150–200 words.
- Press Score my email. Nothing is asked of you: no card, no account, no email address.
- The report opens on this page. Your text is scored and returned; we do not keep a copy of it.
This page scores 2 answers a day per network connection, because every score costs us a model call. That counter is separate from the app, which gives every new device 3 free scored sessions of its own — using this page does not spend any of them.
Task 1 — Writing an Email
The two washing machines in your apartment building have been out of order for three weeks. The building manager put a paper sign on them and nothing has happened since. You now take your laundry to a laundromat four blocks away.
Write an email of about 150-200 words to your building manager, Ms. Reyes.
In your email:
- Explain which machines are broken and how long they have been out of order.
- Describe how this has affected you and the other tenants.
- Say what you would like the manager to do, and by when.
The real exam gives you 27 minutes and asks for 150–200 words. The timer and the word counter here show you both, but neither one stops you: on the web you can take as long as you like and submit whatever you have written. The app enforces the real clock; this page is honest about not doing so.

Where this score is solid, and where it is not
What we measured. In our own Writing calibration run in August 2026, over 108 scored answers in the CLB 3–8 band, the estimate landed within one band of the reference 95% of the time, and 99% of the quoted corrections were exact quotes from the candidate's own text rather than a paraphrase.
What we have not measured. We have no published measurement above CLB 8. That is why a high result here is shown as a band with no point estimate: naming a single number we cannot stand behind would be the dishonest part.
What it is not. An estimate from a model, not an official score, and not a prediction of your test day. Paragon issues official CELPIP results in 2–4 business days; nothing on this page changes that.
One task here. The rest is in the app.
This page is a single Writing task, because a browser tab is a poor place to record eight speaking answers under a clock. The app runs the whole thing with the real timings.
Speaking
8 tasks, 30 seconds of preparation, 60 or 90 seconds to answer, no pausing — the same shape as test day.
Writing
2 tasks — an email and a survey response — in 53 minutes, with the word counter running.
Reading & Listening
Reading: 4 parts, 38 questions, 43 minutes. Listening: 6 parts, 38 questions, each clip plays once.
Full mock
All four sections in one sitting, about 3 hours, in the test order. There is an LS Mock too, for citizenship applicants who sit Listening and Speaking only.
The app's free tier is separate from this page. Every new device gets 3 scored sessions free, for the life of the device, with no card. Reading and Listening section practice is free and does not spend one of those sessions. Paid plans and their quotas are on the pricing page — this page does not repeat prices, so there is only ever one place they can be wrong.

Questions about this free task
Is this really free, and do I have to sign up?
Yes, and no. There is no card, no account and no email address on this page. Scoring costs us money for every answer, so this page scores 2 answers per day per network connection. The counter resets at midnight UTC.
Is this an official CELPIP test?
No. This is an independent practice tool. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Paragon Testing Enterprises, Prometric, IRCC or the Government of Canada, and it cannot issue an official score. The task follows the published Writing Task 1 format; the score is an estimate produced by an AI model.
How accurate is the CLB estimate?

What happens to the email I write here?
It is sent to the scoring service, scored, and returned to your browser. It is not written to disk and never appears in our logs, which keep counts only: the task, the word count and whether the request succeeded. Close the tab and the text is gone.
Does using this page cost me one of the app's free sessions?
No. The 2 scored answers a day on this page and the 3 free scored sessions the app gives a new device are separate counters. Using one does not spend the other.
