An aunt whose health card expired — CELPIP Speaking Task 1
One of the 24 questions in the Task 1 pool — 30 seconds to prepare, 90 seconds to speak, no second take. What the section is: the CELPIP test format.
15 Your aunt’s health card expired last month. She has cancelled two appointments at the service centre because she cannot leave work during the day, and she plans to wait until her holiday in the autumn. Advise her, and explain your reasons.
Speaking to: your aunt
What the question is asking for
Whether the delay is safe, and what she does instead of waiting for a holiday that is months away.
What to settle in the 30 seconds
Have one workable step and one consequence of a card that has already expired.
Where this one goes wrong
Advice she cannot follow. She cannot leave work during the day — that limit is written into the prompt, and an answer that walks past it does not fit the situation.
