CELPIP Speaking Task 2 — Talking about a Personal Experience

1 Talk about a time you helped someone you did not know well. Describe what happened, what you did, and how you felt afterwards.

2 Talk about a day when your plans changed at the last minute. Describe what you had planned, what went wrong, and what you did instead.

3 Talk about something new you learned as an adult. Describe how you started, what was hard about it, and why you kept going.

4 Talk about a place you visited that was different from what you expected. Describe the place, what surprised you, and what you still remember about it.

5 Talk about a time you had to wait a long time for something important. Describe the situation, how you spent the waiting time, and how it ended.

6 Talk about a meal you cooked or shared with other people. Describe who was there, what you ate, and why that day stayed in your memory.

7 Talk about a time you fixed or repaired something yourself. Describe what was broken, how you worked it out, and how it turned out in the end.

8 Talk about a time you disagreed with someone and later changed your mind. Describe what the disagreement was about, what made you see it differently, and what you did then.

9 Talk about a holiday or celebration you spent away from the people you usually spend it with. Describe where you were, who you were with, and how the day felt.

10 Talk about a time you were given more responsibility than you expected. Describe what you were asked to do, how you managed it, and what you learned from it.

11 Talk about a journey that took much longer than it should have. Describe where you were going, what delayed you, and how you got through it.

12 Talk about a time you had to speak in front of a group of people. Describe the occasion, how you prepared, and how you felt while you were speaking.

13 Talk about a time you or someone in your family needed medical help without warning. Describe what happened, where you went for help, and how the day ended.

14 Talk about a time you found it hard to explain a problem to a doctor, a nurse or a pharmacist. Describe the situation, how you made yourself understood, and what happened afterwards.

22 Talk about someone in your neighbourhood you got to know after months of only nodding to them. Describe how the first real conversation started, what you talked about, and what came of it.

23 Talk about something you bought that turned out to be faulty or wrong. Describe what you bought, what you did about it, and how the shop or the company answered you.

24 Talk about a time a shop, a repair service or a restaurant treated you better than you expected. Describe what they did, why it stood out, and who you told about it afterwards.
